Fall Flavors | Maple Oat Nut Scones

I'm such a fan of the flavors of fall. Pumpkin, maple, and cinnamon. They're all delicious and they just feel much better while eating them during this time of year.
So I'm going to bake  every flavor that is associated with fall. How does that sound? Mouthwatering, right?

The first flavor I have on my agenda is:
Maple

A few weeks ago I made some basic scones. I loved them and they tasted so great. I was really proud of myself. So I decided to try my hand at some maple flavored scones. I found this recipe from the great Pioneer Woman (my favorite food blog).

Maple Oat Nut Scones!

Flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, egg, pecans, maple extract, and Diet Coke. That last one is optional, but I highly recommend it :) I completely forgot to put in the milk, too!

Combine the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pecans).
Chop up cold butter into cubes and put into the dry ingredients mixture.
Combine wet ingredients (egg, milk, and maple extract).
Then put those two mixtures together! Mix it up good.

Roll the dough into a ball and lay it out flat. Cut the circle of dough into 8 pieces.
Stick that in the oven!

Whip up some maple icing (powder sugar, milk, butter, maple extract) to drizzle over the top of the scones. I don't know why I mixed this with a fork? Just the first thing I grabbed I guess..

Pull those babies out of the oven and bask in the glory of your house smelling like maple. Because mine smelt very very good.

Let them cool completely.

Drizzle the maple icing over top of them, then sprinkle some extra pecans on top. It makes them look nicer :)
Ignore the fact that half of mine are darker, I added some extra maple extract halfway just to experiment!

Stuff your face! Three of mine are missing because my family snagged some before I could even take a picture. Shows how good they are.

Go to The Pioneer Woman to get the full recipe :)

Id{on't believe how beautiful it is}aho

My lovely boyfriend whisked me away to a romantic weekend up north in Idaho.
It's a pretty usual thing actually. But this time we were able to go up into the woods.
He told me before we arrived, "If you haven't fallen in love with Idaho yet, you will."

He let me loose with my camera and I wandered among the trees along the river. I smelt the fresh autumnal approaching air.

and I fell in love.

Baseball Tee Dress

I've been really into baseball tee's lately. They're the best t-shirts around.
Three-quarters sleeves, light and airy, color blocked, who could not love them?
I thought I was satisfied.

Until...

I bought a baseball tee dress.
I think I might wear it to bed. You know, like a night gown. Why don't women wear night gowns anymore? I'll develop a line for you guys to buy. Who will be the first to purchase "Sydnee's Lucid Dream Dresses (working title)"?

You may notice that my outfit's will be much more suited for comfort. I've decided that being uncomfortable just isn't worth that much hassle anymore. This is the perfect mix of "dressed up" and "I'm basically wearing a huge t-shirt".

Specs and Lips

I did the usual changing of contacts this morning. Except.. something was wrong.
I didn't have any more.
Guess I'll be wearing my specs until I can go back to eye doctor.. on Friday.

I've been searching for a really good red. This lip pencil could be pretty close. I am loving itttttt.

Meanwhile, I hope my contacts get here really soon.

Autumn Cravings

It's finally almost here. The moment we've all been waiting for.

Autumn.

That's right. You got it. Fall is coming. It's practically here.

I'm not in the minority when I say that it's my favorite time of year. There's a reason so many people love it.

After pumpkin pie, my favorite part of this season is the clothing. You just can't beat it.

The light sweaters and cardigans, the scarves, the flannel!

Since the months of September-November are when my Mint finance app keeps saying "Stop buying so many clothes!" here is what I'm craving this fall.

I noticed a theme of red and grey, flannel, and brown leather. That's what I'll more than likely be head to toe in. Actually, that's already started to be perfectly candid.

What are some fall purchases you're looking forward to this year?

Swiss Days & Knit Skirts

After missing this event for the past three years, I finally got to go to Swiss Days!
My aunt always has a booth there. We always go up there and hang out. Considering I was in the actual place it was inspired by last year, I was not able to attend.

This knit skirt trend is pretty great. I love wearing pencil skirts but they're too uncomfortable. But when they're stretchy and knit, it's perfect.

With lovely weather and lovely company, it was better than I remembered.

I also got these treats from the Relief Society bakery.
They're cute. They're also super delicious.

If I could, I would live in Midway. It's a beautiful place.

Who could not be happy?

This quote really resonates with me, lately.
Yeah, life gets to me. This quote makes me see that I shouldn't let it. Little things in life can help you get through the hard times. Oscar Wilde listed two of my little things. Books and flowers. I could name off a dozen others that are more personal to me.

So excuse me while I curl up with my book.
