Fall Flavors | Maple Oat Nut Scones

I'm such a fan of the flavors of fall. Pumpkin, maple, and cinnamon. They're all delicious and they just feel much better while eating them during this time of year.
So I'm going to bake  every flavor that is associated with fall. How does that sound? Mouthwatering, right?

The first flavor I have on my agenda is:
Maple

A few weeks ago I made some basic scones. I loved them and they tasted so great. I was really proud of myself. So I decided to try my hand at some maple flavored scones. I found this recipe from the great Pioneer Woman (my favorite food blog).

Maple Oat Nut Scones!

Flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, egg, pecans, maple extract, and Diet Coke. That last one is optional, but I highly recommend it :) I completely forgot to put in the milk, too!

Combine the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pecans).
Chop up cold butter into cubes and put into the dry ingredients mixture.
Combine wet ingredients (egg, milk, and maple extract).
Then put those two mixtures together! Mix it up good.

Roll the dough into a ball and lay it out flat. Cut the circle of dough into 8 pieces.
Stick that in the oven!

Whip up some maple icing (powder sugar, milk, butter, maple extract) to drizzle over the top of the scones. I don't know why I mixed this with a fork? Just the first thing I grabbed I guess..

Pull those babies out of the oven and bask in the glory of your house smelling like maple. Because mine smelt very very good.

Let them cool completely.

Drizzle the maple icing over top of them, then sprinkle some extra pecans on top. It makes them look nicer :)
Ignore the fact that half of mine are darker, I added some extra maple extract halfway just to experiment!

Stuff your face! Three of mine are missing because my family snagged some before I could even take a picture. Shows how good they are.

Go to The Pioneer Woman to get the full recipe :)
